Biographical Sketch
DONALD R. FALKENBURG is Director of the Greenfield Coalition and Professor and Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. His work at the NSF-sponsored Greenfield Coalition has focused on the development of engineering case studies and other real-world learning experiences that Greenfield delivers in a web-enabled learning environment. Falkenburg received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and Master of Science degrees from Clarkson University, and his Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University. He has been a faculty member at Clarkson University, Oakland University and Wayne State University, where he served as Chair of the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. He also served as Vice President for Research and Acting President of the Industrial Technology Institute (Ann Arbor, Michigan)-- a contract R&D organization chartered to enhance industrial productivity through its program focus on advanced manufacturing technologies. He has served as a member of Board of Directors of the Michigan Technology Council, Chair of the Midwest Simulation Council, member of the Board of Directors of the Society for Computer Simulation, and Vice President of Industries at the Institute of Industrial Engineers. He was appointed by the governor as a member of the Feasibility Panel of the State of Michigan Research Fund responsible for recommending awards intended to stimulate innovative commercial ventures.
