Biographical Sketch
Dr. Kyoung-Yun Kim joined the department in Fall 2005. He is currently an Assistant Professor of the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, Wayne State University. His research interests include product development, Internet-based collaborative assembly design, and telerehabilitation. He has conducted many research projects focused on IT-enabled collaborative product design and realization, concurrent and intelligent assembly design, automation in CAD/CAM, and manufacturing process optimization. Prior to join the department, he was a Research Assistant Professor of the Department of Industrial Engineering and a Research Specialist at the United States National Science Foundation (NSF) Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) for e-Design, University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Kyoung-Yun Kim has published technical articles in leading academic journals including CAD, International Journal of Production Research, and IIE Transactions. Among other achievements, he won the IIE Transactions Best Paper Award in Design and Manufacturing in 2003 for his paper titled "Robot Arc Welding Task Sequencing using Genetic Algorithms". He has a B.S. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Chonbuk National University, South Korea; and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from University of Pittsburgh, USA.
