Faculty and Research |
IME Faculty - Innovative Research and Teaching
The faculty bring to both their research and teaching an unusual blend of solid theoretical backgrounds coupled with broad industrial practical knowledge. They are regularly challenged to tackle the toughest technical management problems of the global automotive industry and use their experiences to enrich the classroom lecture and dialogue. They have an outstanding track record of publications in premier journals but are especially proud of the collection of books they have authored. The five most recent ones are:
- Kenneth Chelst & Tom Edwards (2005), Does this line ever move? Everyday Application of Operations Research, Key Curriculum Press.
- Kai Yang and Jayant Trewn (2004), Multivariate Statistical methods in Quality Management, McGraw-Hill.
- Kai Yang and Basem El-Haik (2003), Design for Six Sigma, McGraw-Hill.
- Gary Wasserman (2003), Reliability Verification, Testing, and Analysis in Engineering Design, Marcel Dekker.
- Leslie Monplaisir and Nanua Singh (2002), Collaborative Engineering for Product Design and Development, American Scientific Publishers.
In fiscal year 2003, research expenditures amounted to $3.9 million. The average per faculty member of close to $400,000 per year is amongst the highest in the US for departments of industrial engineering.
